Pincushions

Well I'm pretty embarrassed by my one and only pathetic pin cushion. It is a dog bone cut out from a dogbone cookie cutter. Not a very successful project, but it still works. I quite like to work from the pin container, but it could be a bit larger. I often think I'll get one of those magnetic ones, but never do. I saw one recently at a QS, but there is always something more exciting to spend the money on.
My latest innovation (ha!) is the velcro spot you can see there. It is stuck to the table to the right of the machine, and its partner is stuck to the bottom of the pin container. This stops me accidently knocking the pins off the table onto the scrap pile on the floor below.
Note to self: make a nice pincushion

I think you pincushions are just dandy. If they work for you - then they are perfect. My favorite quilting 'tool' is the little round magnet that is stuck to lamp next to my sewing chair. Always handy to pick up a dropped pin or needle. Not fancy or flashy, but it sure does the trick.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a pincushion. I just put them in a container just like you do. Pincushions are pretty, but I don't see myself using them. A container is just so much easier. Your new invention looks like it would great!
ReplyDeleteOh the velcro spot is a FANTASTIC idea! I'm terrified of accidentally knocking pins and needles onto the floor to be found by my 13 month old!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a pincushion either - must make one soon!!
Oh my gosh - I have dog bone cookie cutters for making doggie biscuits - I was JUST thinking the other day that I hadn't made any this year and won't get to it either. How funny to have a doggie bone pin cushion! I use my BIG pin cushion all the time - a box would just spill too much with a 3 year old around, but if a container (with handy-dandy velcro) works for you - hooray!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
