I'm SO PROUD!

Look! Look! The Japanese top is finished! I'm like a proud mother with my 'finished' quilt top. And the Award goes to ....
"I'd like to thank God (don't they always?), and all the quilty bloggers out there for inspiring me to finish this long neglected UFO".
So, did you pick up yet that I'm a bit excited? All of you on the Other Side of the World will be in bed, so hopefully some Aussie bloggers will look so I can show off! I have been so good not to give a blow-by-blow progress report since I finished the blocks, but the excitement has been mounting as I squared up the blocks and started getting the rows together. The first 2 rows I sewed together went together back the front (forehead slap) so I have spent the last week constructing it in reverse order ie. row 10 on the left instead of the right, across the wall.
But no further mishaps today, lots and lots of row number checking, and here it is. I woke up this morning and decided that today was the day, and I was not going to bed til it was done. It's only 4.56pm. Thanks for 'encouraging' me to make the extra blocks - this is on my queen size bed, and as you can see it goes over the edge and right up to the headboard.
Aaahhh. Now what?

Great job. Just had to comment on how good it looks. And as I am in Australia I am not asleep yet. Sorry to be anonymous but I am still only a blog reader not a blogger. (but I do know your sister) Lynda
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda? How did u know I was Helen's sister?
ReplyDeleteJenni, already awake here in Europe - terrific news! The top is absolutely gorgeous! At the two shows I went to in New England in the summer of 2005, there was lots of Japanese fabric - I wasn't drawn to it, but after seeing your beautiful top, I might just have to find some! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteIt is a perfect, perfect, perfect fit! And - a wonderful pattern to showcase those yummy fabrics!!! You did GREAT! Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers!

ReplyDeleteWOW--all those fabulous and dramatic fabrics! This is just beautiful--love the simplicity of it. All the better to let those fabrics take a bow.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. Good on you for getting it finished. It's grea that it fits your queen sized bed.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! What an terrific accomplishment for you. I knew you'd be happy you'd made it bed size. It really looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour top looks wonderful. I agree that it is so exciting to get a top done and place it so you will know how it's going to look. Your "Quilty" acceptance speech was perfect - did you wear a designer gown to the ceremony *s*?
ReplyDeletebeautiful top, Jenni! you're giving me ideas about opening up my own box of Japanese prints...
ReplyDeleteYou should be proud! It's a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteRemember how Sally Field said "They like me, they really like me."? Well, you forgot to say that. We like it. We really like it. It is beautiful. I want to make one just like it. Unless you are ready to give yours away?
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm back. You said "Now what". Now you have to finish it. As in either send it out to a quilter, or quilt it yourself. Remember your banner about finishing something?
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATION, Jenni - you did a fantastic job, the fabrics are great and I would like to use this pattern one day also. Not shure to be on the same day right now, here in Germany. I think you must have Friday now ... however: good night
