Orange, Lime and Aqua?
Here are the lime and aqua fabrics that are most likely to get into the quilt, with a few orange and pinks as a trial for the strips. I just remembered the yellow and orange fabric that came from Hancocks recently - that could go in maybe?
I also took a photo of the "instructions" so you can see the method of construction. A few people said it sounded like a Quilt as You Go, which it sort of is, but the way they have done it is to have the batting and backing cut to the finished size before you start. Then you just lay the rectangles or squares onto the batting and move them around. I suppose you could even spray glue them onto the batting (I'm starting to like this idea even more!), then pin the strips on and sew them on.
In fact you could just slap some fabric down any which way and then put the strips on! But then it might get crooked...
When you think about it, it should be quite a quick project. Deciding where to put things would be where the time comes in.
As you can see I'm from the "Work Smart Not Hard" School of Life, so this kind of appeals to me! Any thoughts or ideas?

I think the orange and pink is perfect! Sounds like an interesting new way to quilt - I say go for it!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the fabric you have chosen will be perfect. I saved the pictures - just in case in the future I want to try it. The instruction picture is great to see. I see the measurements 25 -30-5 etc - I am thinking that might be cm instead of inches. Do you think?
ReplyDeleteI love those colours. I am looking forward to see progress on this project.
ReplyDeleteYes it is in cms.
ReplyDeleteThat sure sound like it will go quick...are the edges of the strips folded and pressed under a quarter inch or is it a flip and stitch? Love your fabrics....cant wait to see this one done....
ReplyDeleteCan't email you TJ so will reply here. Your guess is as good as mine re the sewing method - the instructions you see are the only ones I've got. I'll try the flip and stitch first probably
ReplyDeleteThis quilt you are making is going to be lovely! I have been quite tempted to buy a Japanese craft book/magazine but I haven't yet--mostly because I wouldn't be able to read the instructions. Technically I could probably figure it out but I have so many other projects going right now that it seems silly to buy a book to make more!
ReplyDeleteMy DIL is Japanese so if you get really stuck email me the page and I will get her to translate it for you. It looks like a very interesting method.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Love the pinks & oranges.
ReplyDeleteI would guess stitch & flip, so good luck!
Those are some yummy fabrics you have there. It'll be interesting to see them made up into the pattern you've chosen.
