Happy Dance!

It's a Happy Day. Not only am I on days off, it is pay day (makes it all worthwhile), and this big blue bag was waiting for me when I got home this morning! Could it be my parcel of Kaffe Fassett fabrics from Hancocks...?? Never before has it arrived in a big blue bag - usually in cardboard envelopes.
Maybe the edges have split really badly this time and some considerate French post master has put it in a LA POSTE AVON bag for me. Nice man.It has left Kentucky with a blue tag on it
saying DOUANE Peut etre ouvert D'office,
described as Printed Matters (Imprimes) worth $5-00. Then on the 12 October it was in France, PRIORITARE France La Poste. Then on the 19th October I think it departed from ROISSY CI (Date de la depeche) bound for SYDNEY (AUSTRALIE). Finally it arrives here today on the 25th. My fabric has been on a world tour.
Perhaps it was placed in the blue bag by the nice French Post Master as it looks like a couple of kilos of heroin, not fabric.
Then...ooh lucky lucky me! Kaffe, Kaffe and MORE Kaffe. And a couple of reproductions I couldn't re
sist that Blogger won't let me post. Maybe later. Now I am off to fondle my fabric instead of going to bed.
I have had a rethink of the other WIP - I am in the process of making the pink and orange strips thinner, which might lessen the impact a bit (see last blog entry). I think they might be a bit too overpowering. I might also take out the big flower in the middle and replace it with the same thing but in a different colourway, which has a white background. Lighten it up a bit. Watch this space...

That was quite a trip your fabric took -- glad it all arrived safely.
ReplyDeleteOoh, Jenni, I got a little Kaffe fix too at Hancock's last week. Alas, mine only traveled south down the highway a couple of hours in the backseat of my car. Not nearly as exciting as the trip yours took! Can't wait to see what you do with yours.
ReplyDeleteKaffe fabric are so beautiful. I have collected some of them, but not used them yet. Saving them for something special LOL I know my 22 bali's that I am sharing with a friend has arrived. But she is so busy so I won't get it before a couple of days......Grmph...LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pile of fabric. I just love the big print on top. Now wouldn't that fabric look great in the Japanese quilt? Might need to make 2!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when parcels arrive in the mail? The only parcel we are expecting is some guitar parts for my husband - but I have had my share in the past few weeks. This is so exciting. Hope you have something unique in store.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is beautiful. Your fabric came from the USA via FRANCE?!!! That really is a world tour.
ReplyDeleteglad your fabric got there safely - your right - it does look a little suspiscious in the white bag... lol
ReplyDeletethe beauty of letting things sit on the design wall is that we often come up with BETTER IDEAS! I 100% agree with your thinner strips, i love the orange and red but the width did pull your eye from the beautiful blue fabric. and the idea about the big flower is dead on, the same colorway will bring everything in sync.
ReplyDeletenow, go fondle fabric, take a nap and get that top put together!! it is going to be a beauty
I think Kaffe's fabrics are made in the UK, so they REALLY have some miles on them.
ReplyDeleteFabric is like heroin. So addictive, so decadent, so dangerous.
ReplyDeletemy last package from Hancocks came in one of those bags also. It also took a lot longer to arrive than it usually does. I don't know what is going on. I'm still waiting for a fabric i ordered at the beginning of September. Not happy at the moment with them.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteOh nice!!! that parcel has just about been to more places than me!
ReplyDeleteWorth the wait indeedy!
