Travel Bug

This is where my "I've Got the Quilting Bug" travel bug is at the moment. It seems to be on an island in Canada. Does anyone know this place? It seems to be very close to Oregon as the crow flies, but I wonder how it gets to the mainland from here?

Poor Holly's bug made it to Hawaii, but then was taken back to the US!! It was getting closer to Australia, but you have to wonder how long it will take to get back out there in the rest of the world. Why would someone take it back to the US when it clearly says on its tag that it wants to go to Australia? Not the full packet of biscuits, that's for sure.

No sewing really - well that's not true. I have added some extra quilting to the couch quilt, and I've done some more work on the hexagons, but that's it. I should be making CWDQ blocks, but I'm not. I'm going to be out on Friday and Saturday, so it isn't looking good. Maybe on Sunday.

I've just washed 3 of the quilts today, as we have seen the sun for the first time in about a week. I also washed the sheets and clothes, but now the clouds are back and it's spitting again - I'll never get them dry now, and the house feels like it needs a hot breeze to blow through it to get rid of the damp feeling.

There has been a breakthrough in beagle relations this week though. Since Chloe came to live here, she and Simon have been friends, but not as much as they could be. They've been getting closer together, but this week I took this photo of the pair of them in the crate together.

I think Simon must have been in there, and then Chloe went in too. Perhaps once it gets colder there will be more snuggling.

I've been thinking about knitting lately too, and think that I might finish the socks I started so long ago! Hope I can remember what to do, and where I'm up to. I think I'm up to picking up stitches for the second heel - the least fun part IMO.

  2. Oh, I know where your travel bug is, lucky travel bug! I vacationed in Victoria BC summer before last. Just too lovely! It's not far from Oregon -- the Port Angeles you see on your map is in Washington, which sits on top of Oregon. Should be able to find someone who hopped over to Victoria on the ferry who's heading down that way. Good luck!

  3. I was going to tell you about your travel bug but I see that jovaliquilts has already done so. Victoria is a marvelous city! And don't worry about your bug getting down to Oregon. There are ferries that leave daily from Victoria to both mainland Canada - near our British Columbia blogging friends - and to both Port Angeles and Seattle, Washington. I wouldn't be surprised if your bug gets into the states very quickly.

What a cute picture of the pups!

  4. Just curious. Where exactly in Victoria would the bug be? Like in a park or in a bus station or in someone's house? How would someone find it? Does it have to be a geocacher that finds it? There will probably be a lot of American tourists starting to come to Victoria soon - now the spring is here.

The two beagles look so cute together.

  5. I used to live in Oak Harbor, WA. There are ferries that go to Victoria from Anacortes and I am sure Friday Island if memory serves. Oak Harbor is about 2 hours north of Seattle (dependent on traffic.

  6. Chloe and Simon are definitely friends now. Sounds like you have a happy travel bug, too. How do these bugs get about the country so fast?

  7. Simon & Chloe there together are just wonderful.
It has turned so cool here, it is like the end of Autumn, not the beginning. I know these Indian Summers sneak back on us, but today... well it just doesn't feel as if it will.
    Great knitting weather!

  11. Those puppies are just too adorable :0). As for the travel bug -- um, what the person who took it did makes NO sense whatsoever. Let's hope it makes its way back towards Australia soon!

I love the tracking of the tags, like looking at where your readers come to on your blog.
The Civil war blocks are looking gorgeous, tracey

  13. "made it to Hawaii, but then was taken back to the US" Nope, then got taken back to the mainland. Hawaii is in the US, it became the 50th State August 1959.

  15. Well I live very very close to that island. In fact, if you go to the beach about 5 blocks from my home and look out on a clear day you can see it. I am in the Greater Vancouver area. You can take one of two ferrys from the Vancouver area to get there or one from Seattle in WAshington. You are about a 6 hour drive once on the mainland from Oregon!
