Finished UFO
I have finished the Over-Pink Flowery Number, as it has come to be called, and off it goes to Heartstrings. Maybe it will suit an elderly lady. It is a real relief to just have to finish the Flimsy then put it in the post. I will have to spend a fair bit of time trimming the threads though, as these strips have been cut for about a year and are all fraying.
So the good news is that now that's finished I have allowed myself to start the 1930s Zig Zag Quilt. This photo is from the magazine's kit page, but I am using my own fabric. I see there is only one kit left so they may take the photo down soon.
I've had the fabric for a while now, but felt a bit guilty about the UFOs. Now one is finished, my guilt level has dropped considerably, and it is exciting to start something new. I have started the strip sets, then they all have to be cut into 1 1/2 inch strips and sewn back together off line. Might not be so excited about it all by then!

Otherwise all is quiet here. Simon is back to his normal self, but still has the lampshade on. I'm supposed to take him back to get his stitches out on the weekend, but if the last visit was anything to go by I'll probably end up doing that too, so I think I might just take them out myself. I have a friend here who is also a nurse and dog mother, so we will do it together. Save another trip over on the waterbus. Still trying to catch up on blog reading, and the red fabric has gone in the bin.

You know I really like the overly pink flowery number. Not something I would normally go for but it looks good. It would suit an older lady or a girly girl. Must feel good to strike one off the list.

I like pink and I like flowers - what's not to like, it's really pretty.
ReplyDeletewhat a really pretty quilt. I love the combination of the colours..well done!
ReplyDeleteoh I love the overly pink flowery one.......
ReplyDeleteWell done Jenni - I know an elderly lady who would just adore it! And yes, I would remove the stitches yourself (with your friend's help too) judging from how useless the vet was last time! And good for you on the red fabric!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the UFO finish, it looks wonderful, I'm not really a pink flowery person, but something about that one really grabs me. It's going to make someone very happy.
ReplyDeleteYour pink quilt is so pretty! It's a great pattern too.
ReplyDeleteHugs for your beautiful puppy.
The pink quilt is lovely and a lucky person will be receiving it. That zig zag quilt looks like a simple pattern to do but it will be so effective once finished.
ReplyDeleteYou are right - the pink flowery quilt will really make a nice lady very happy *s* It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of folks besides "little old ladies" would love that pink number. I know I do! Looking forward to watching your progress on the zigzag number!
ReplyDeleteI am a pink gal and love your Over-Pink Flowery Number Quilt.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Simon is doing better. My dogs would not wear the lampshade at all. Simon is such a good guy.
I like that little pink number! and so easy! might put something like that together myself. and what a mess that red fabric made!! you were smart to prewash, i'm sort of lazy about that and had it been me, it would have bit me in the fanny!
ReplyDeleteVery girly, some little lass will love it. Pleased simon is better and it wasn't the big C, cheers, tracey
ReplyDeleteI am into pink florals and it looks great to me. Really pretty.
ReplyDeleteI really like the pink flowery quilt! Very feminine.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks more a young girls quilt than an'old lady' one, you're being too hard on it. Very soft and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your guilt levels have dropped, and you're free to start a new project. My guilt levels are so small they don't register, thank goodness.(And I'd have ten times as many projects as you)
Lovely quilt, I really like the fabric selection.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the finished UFO. It is so good to hear that your "little friend" is getting better.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink quilt - very pretty. I'm sure lots of people (not just elderly ladies) would love it! Glad to hear Simon is on the mend. If the vet is that timid and you are confident, I'd be inclined to go for it with the stitches :)
ReplyDeleteYour overly pink flowery quilt is not my usual style, but in fact I like it a lot. It's lovely! Someone will be so glad to get it. The zig zag quilt looks fun, too. Enjoy!
