No Promises I'm Afraid

Its been 7 months since my last blog entry... do I sound suitably ashamed? I've lost the blog mojo and even the sewing mojo really. I've been reading a few blogs and occasionally making a comment, but then I end up in this weird place that has equal parts motivation and then almost shame that I can't get back into it. It makes me feel inadequate, like I just don't love it enough. It's not like I'm flat out, just worn out I think. Too much night shift maybe?

But then who wants to hear about that? No-one - pictures are what we come here for, right?
I have made some more Checkerboard Blocks and have abandoned 3 attempts to make a quilt for my 6 yo niece. I'm now on Quilt 4, which is totally different to the first 3 attempts, but of course not finished. I think it will be the last version.

Here are some more of the checkerboard blocks.

  1. well, we're here waiting patiently whenever you do decide to blog! How about some sort of child-like fabric panel to get you started on your niece's quilt? A little fantasy/cartoon/storybook action might be just what your mojo needs...

  3. *sigh* I know EXACTLY what you mean.. I lost my 'mojo' too.. tonight, I stitched the binding onto my quilt I have had back from the quilters since APRIL.. april this year, but sheesh, its summer.. who needs a hot quilt to hand stitch binding down in summer???? I love your checkerboard blocks.. I am doing some 16 Patch blocks, miniature ones though, thought doing something small might get me my mojo back!

  6. No promises necessary. aWe all go through seasons and lose our 'mojo' now and then. Ebb and flow. I haven't been blogging much either. Or geocaching for that matter.

Your checkerboard quilts are fun and the brown/blue one is my favorite. Love what you did with the center.

I like what Andrea said - go buy some fabric. That always works for me :)

  7. Welcome back - I've missed you!

Blogging and quilting don't really mix - I find I can't do both and have been really bad at keeping the blog up to date. I'm posting about once a week, if that.

Do me some red and white blocks and see if that gets the mojo going. I've run out of Australian ones!

  8. Just puttering along with fabric and sewing may inspire interest. Sounds like a rest from work might help, too. But some whimsical fabric for your quilt project might be just the ticket. Hope you feel your happy and creative mojo return. Such a sweetie to want to make a quilt for your niece. She will love whatever you come up with. Glad to hear from you and happy to see a post here once again. :-)
