Still Slack

I still haven't touched the sewing machine. I don't know what's wrong with me. The Quilt Show is on this week and I'm not even going. It's raining on and off today, so maybe that might motivate me - rainy weather is quilting weather to me. Shame it doesn't rain that often! I might try and make some string blocks later.

I thought I'd make Chloe a little quilt from scraps for her bed, as the cushion she has is really a winter thing. I probably just need to start on something, anything, to get back into the groove.

It was interesting to read the responses to my geocache post - Tami have you found one yet? I'm still looking for them when I can. Here is the keyring that will be attached to my 'Got the Quilting Bug' Travel Bug to send in Holly's general direction. I am still waiting for the actual travel bug to arrive - something else I ordered is on Back Order, so the whole order has been delayed. It will be fun to see how far they go. I'm tempted to release mine at the Airport so it gets going to the US straight away, but then it would be nice for it to travel a bit in Australia. I think it would be more fun watching it go to places in the US though. A local cacher here has just started a similar swap with a cacher in Portugal (I think), but their travel bugs have to go to a particular cache in Greenland (!!) join up, travel together to Portugal, then back to Australia. Sounds a bit ambitious to me, but you never know.

Otherwise there isn't much happening around here. Life goes on regardless, doesn't it?

  3. Maybe the quilt show is a good idea.... Don't worry, this too will pass - you'll get some inspiration - just don't push it, but stay open to it! I love the color of the earth in your rainy photo!

  4. What a fun Travel Bug! I am going to keep track of it as well as Holly's...if either one comes close to me I will log them too!

We've got a few Travel Bugs we are sending out in the next week weeks...one of them will be quilt related for sure!

  5. Oooh, that's a pretty keychain and looks longer than the one I sent off. If it makes you feel any better, I'm having a hard time being motivated to sew anything, too.

  7. Hi Jenny, what fun that you are into geocaching! I know that Holly dearly love it, and I heard about it first from Susan at Patchwork Reflections.
It's a fun idea to have the key chain travel!! I look forward to seeing where all it goes.
If I just had a good pill for the quilting doldrums, I'd send it your way, honest! Sorry that I don't. Hopefully inspiration will srike soon. Hugs, Finn

  9. The geocaching sounds so much fun, and a great interest apart from quilting. You need some relief from sewing; gardening, knitting, blogs, whatever. I used to be worried when I'd go right 'off' quilting, but the interest always came back. Sometimes it felt like ages and was only couple of weeks. Put your feet up and stare at the rain or read a good book, you'll get sucked in again.

  10. Here in Northern Minnesota the weather has been wet for weeks. Sopping soggy wet and windy! Gale storm winds straight off the lake...but I still went out to the quilt shop and the yarn shop, then out to lunch with a friend. It's the only thing to get me moving and motivated to be creative again. I feel absolutely and completely inspired to run home to cut and sew after I see what my fellow quilter's are up to and a good chat helps, too!

Now that I have things to sew, the sun has been shining. Our beautiful fall weather is here! So who wants to be indoors sewing when there are gardens that need tending before snow falls, leaves to mulch, walks to take with two very happy dogs and sunshine to absorb?

Hope you got out and about. Your friends are right. A quilt show is just the ticket to kick starting your sewing! That and perhaps some sunshine?

  11. Yes, I have heard of this before and I agree with you, its a great thing for families to do together. It has the lure of technology to interest the kiddiewinkles and the exercise must be good for you! The down side is that you can't quilt and cache hunt at the same time! (not that I've ever cache-hunted)
