Repairs Only
This is the only sewing I've been doing this week I'm afraid to say. This is Chloe's squeeky toy, which didn't last very long at all. She squeeked it for about 20mins til the squeeker was puntured, then started to rip the poor dog apart to get at the insides. I took it off her and got the squeeker out, and she was most upset. Then the stuffing started to be pulled out, so I will sew it up and see if there will be any more life in it, or if it has lost its appeal.
Chloe is doing well. For a 3 year old who has had 2 homes and ended up in the pound, she is a very good dog. She has dug up the garden a few times today to bury her bone, right where I had just planted some seeds, the little wretch! But she is out in the yard with me when I am gardening, and loves a walk. She is keen to play with other dogs as well, and has a great time with Neddy who lives up the road, when they get together.
Someone asked to see the Ute we hired to move some stuff. There is nothing too exciting about it, but here it is.
I've mainly been gardening this last few weeks as the weather is starting to get hot now even though it's only the 3rd week of spring. I've got to get as much done as I can before it's too hot to do it - it's going to be 31 deg C today. I've been planting things, and trying to grow a few veges. I've put a birdbath in but I haven't had any visitors in it yet. I've even put some bribery bird seed out, but no bird has fallen for it. I'm told that the birds will make sure the water source is going to be permanent before they start using it, so the pressure is on me to keep it full. They're testing me.

What a cute little dog. We are taking Simba home today so in a few months we will be dog shopping at the animal shelter too. I hope we can find one even half as nice as Simba.
ReplyDeleteThat's one smart dog - digging in the nice dirt that you so kindly softened for her!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your new addition has settle in well, even though she enjoys digging up your new seeds. I think I'd be outside gardening too, if it were me. Like you said Queensland weather doesn't allow you to do that for too long.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what Roogrr does with his toys. I sew it up one time, but then it goes in the garbage. Once he starts in with it he not only tears it up, but then eats it!!
ReplyDeleteMany doggy toys have suffered a similar fate. I have long since given up trying to mend them as Harper loves them just as much even when the squeaker and stuffing is long gone *S*
ReplyDeleteIn answer to the question about my White House Steps quilt, If you look through my blog, I do explain briefly how I quilt in sections. I guess a quilt-as-you-go quilt would be basically one square at a time. I just find it very difficult to wrestle a whole quilt under my sewing machine. So what I do is leave a nice big margin around the sections of the quilt. I machine quilt each section. Then I seam the parts together, press, I trim the batting, and I hand hem the back. Then I machine quilt over the join.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your dog likes its toy all chewed up! Our weather is getting cooler here - although it is still planting season for next year's stuff. I'm just cleaning things up so that I don't have to look at it all winter.
ReplyDeleteChloe is a real cutey :O)...it is so funny to hear you talking of Spring and here we are going into Fall :O)...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you, I went back to the Passion Fruit Vine today and got another little box full of fruits! I read to not pick them from the vine but to pick up the ones that fell to the ground, that those are ripe!
Do I need to do anything special to the seeds to dry and save them for next year? I was just going to cut one open and rinse the flesh off them as best I could and then lay them in the sun to dry?
Clever Chloe, cementing her love in her lovely new home!
ReplyDeleteChloe is so cheeky and cute, she was helping you to garden your garden will grow much better now that she has given you her helping paws. Some dogs just love attacking squeeky toys dont they then killing the squeak awww she was making sure she killed the prey for you.
ReplyDeleteI love your four patch quilt beginnings. The pink really suits it. Chloe looks so sweet. The best things about dogs is their unconditional love.
